Story
After one pandemic and two trip cancellations, I will finally be climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in June 2022...The dormant volcano sits 5895m above sea level, the equivalent of over 15 Empire State Buildings, making it the world's tallest freestanding mountain.
My climb is in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation; a charity that aims to research and raise awareness of two serious diseases, Meningitis and Septicaemia.
Students are the second, most at-risk group of getting Meningitis. 1 in 4 students will carry the meningococcal bacteria. Meningitis and Septicaemia can kill you within 12 hours.
MRF are providing better access to vaccines, health systems and support to survivors of meningitis.
MRF have three main goals:
- To see fewer people get meningitis and septicaemia
- To see more people survive with a better quality of life and reduced disability
- To have more engaged, informed and supported patients and communities
How will my money help?
- £10 - 1 hour of in-depth support
- £25 - 1 hour of a typical research project
- £50 - Runs MRF's phone triage system in 10 clinics across Malawi as part of their Action Meningitis project
- £100 - Provides 20 information packs for GP surgeries and health professionals

Every donation no matter how big or small is really appreciated and will make such a huge difference
Thank you
