Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my just giving page. I started my page in order to raise funds towards my summer trip to Costa Rica & Nicaragua with Raleigh International. I am 17 years old, from Gateshead and I am currently studying my A Levels. I took on the challenge to do a Raleigh international expedition because I find the charity simply inspiring.
Whilst on my expedition I will be living amongst and helping the poverty stricken communities, along with the hard task of trekking through the rain forest! In the past Raleigh have completed projects such as building water systems to enable towns to have clean safe drinking water - something we all take for granted. They have also built schools to enable every child has the chance to a good and stable education.
How will I help? On 23rd July 2013 I will be leaving my college, job, home, friends & family to fly to Costa Rica to volunteer on a Raleigh Expedition for 2 months. This also means leaving behind my luxurys that I take for granted every single day including my phone (I have no contact with anyone for 2 weeks at a time), also all my other luxuries such as straightners and even nice food! As a venturer my job is to help within the communities, to make the lives of the people much better in Costa Rica. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can make a genuine difference to people's lives, and I don't think ill get a better opportunity than this!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and support the cause. I will appreciate anything given to me no matter how little or large of an amount.
