Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
18 years ago, the neonatal unit at St George's Hospital saved my son's life. He was born at 27 weeks weighing just 560 grams and spent 4 long and precarious months fighting for his life in the NICU. Next summer, he'll be sitting his A-levels and is busy making plans for Uni and beyond. An amazing team, some of whom still work on the NICU, gave him life. Safe to say he's been living it to the max ever since and I'm grateful every single day for the life-saving care he received and the chance to be his Mum.
First Touch is a fantastic charity that funds state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the neonatal unit. Since 2004, almost 11,000 sick and premature babies have been cared for on the unit. First Touch has been there for every one of those babies - for their scared and anxious parents and carers, for their Grandparents, and for their siblings. And they always make a special effort to look after the incredible staff team too.
Every £ you donate is used to provide love, care, attention and life - from supporting Mum's to express their precious milk, to specialist incubators and ventilators that literally keep these tiny humans alive. From special treats for the amazing team of health professionals to get them through another long shift, to memory boxes for those families who very sadly don't get to take their babies home.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
