Story
Dementia is such a tragic and sad disease which not only has a devastating affect on the sufferer , but on their family, friends and loved ones alike. People's lives are changed dramatically and we have seen this first hand with our close friend and colleague who has both parents suffering with different forms of dementia.
Like everything in life you don't truly appreciate what you have until something is taken away from you. People suffering from dementia not only have their memories taken , they are also left in a terrifying world of fear and confusion , eventually seeing their family members, friends and loved ones as total strangers.
Alzheimersuk.org work tirelessly to raise money to direct into invaluable research projects, which in turn greatly improve the already very real chances of one day finding a cure for this horrible disease, whilst their website provides a wealth of information on all types of dementia, helping family, friends and loved ones understand more about the disease and helping them to understand that it is a nasty disease which is changing their loved one, and not the person him or herself.
We just want to do Alzheimersuk.org and our friend justice and raise as much as we can to make the physical pain of running these races worthwhile, whilst ultimately helping to fight a truly devastating disease. The time span between each race won't give our bodies much time to recover between races, therefore we will have to constantly train over the nine week period to ensure no injuries or tiredness sets into our muscles.
So please please give what you can. Thanks Nic & Mark
