For many years my mum has supported Barnardos as, during her work life she helped support children leaving care. 

Every November she would send out a request for 'Bags for careleavers' and her office would be taken over by hundreds of bags, all shapes and sizes filled with toiletries, chocolates and sanitary products. These would be later given out to those who would receive nothing at Christmas. 

In the summer of 2019 mum first received her cancer diagnosis and, after undergoing two major operations on her throat and mouth in February last year we received the heart shattering news; Mum wasn't going to get better! 

Mum was a fighter and fought to the bitter end, leaving us a year ago on 10th November 2021, just 2 years after her initial diagnosis.

I promised mum that I would continue her work with Barnardos and continue to collect the bags for careleavers. Alongside the bags this year I'm taking it a step further to raise much needed funds to help not only careleavers but younger children and adults too.

Now anyone that knew my mum knew what she thought of me running too much and always said that women's bodies weren't meant to run distances like that...... And anyone that knows me will know that if I'm told I can't run that far then I will prove that I can! 

So this one's for you mum....... LONDON MARATHON 2023.....I'm coming for you!!!
