Morning Walks for Move For Mind - Derbyshire, 10 January 2022
Move for Mind is a 30 day challenge designed to get us all a bit more active this winter and raise funds for Derbyshire Mind at the same time! Whether its daily walks, runs, or even skipping, you can choose anything that will be a fun way to move!

Story

Derbyshire Mind are a fantastic local charity and one I'm proud to work for. This challenge will see me getting up nice and early to make sure I've completed at least 30 minutes of outdoor exercise each morning within two hours of getting up.

Why is this a challenge for me? Well, I like a leisurely start to the day with at least two cups of tea, checking my personal emails and the news, a bit of brain training and maybe making packed lunch as well all the daily prep. So getting out the house and COMPLETING at least 30 minutes of outdoor exercise within that time frame will be, well, different for me.

What sort of exercise could I be doing? Mainly brisk walking to be honest, but I'm hoping to vary it over the weekends with a jog or - should I need to isolate - hula hooping or something in the back garden!

What was my inspiration? Firstly, it's a fantastic charity challenge that feels achievable without fear of gaining injury - something I tend to do when pushing myself. I also picked this challenge after listening to Michael Mosely's 'Just One Thing' podcast on BBC Sounds, which explored the science behind the benefits of an early morning walk.

Thank you for reading, if you are able to give it would be hugely appreciated and make a difference to the fantastic projects that Derbyshire Mind deliver. There are other ways you can help too, any sharing of this fundraising page could help reach more people to either donate, start their own challenge or find out about the work that Derbyshire does.
