Story
I know most of you will be in shock knowing we have signed up to cycle 500km!!
It is however for a tremendously worthy cause. Our friend, Elise Roberts, was diagnosed with stage 4 Malignant Melanoma (skin cancer) in January 2010 but on the 3rd October 2010 she sadly passed away, aged 38.
In the July of that year, Elise did an incredible selfless thing. While fighting her own battle against cancer, she set up an appeal to raise £1m for The Christie Hospital in Manchester, to help others who found themselves suffering from the same cruel illness as her. Elise was a truly inspirational person who was determined to turn her situation into a positive one.
Although Elise is no longer here to continue the fundraising, her Husband Mark is determined to reach the goal she set of £1m and with the support of friends and colleagues, has already reached an incredible £429,000. With the challenges planned in 2012, we hope to raise a further £250,000.
Elise's treatment cost £75,000 and works for around 50% of the people who take the drug. It didn't work for Elise, but with £250,000 we WILL save someone's life.
On 1st November 2012 the two of us, along with 28 other friends and colleagues will be taking part in a 500km cycle ride from Saigon in Vietnam, to Ankor Wat in Cambodia in aid of The Christie Hospital.
We need to raise £3775 in sponsorship but, with the help and generosity of people like you, we are determined to smash that target so it would be fantastic if you could dig deep and support us.
Please make sure that you select the Gift Aid box, this enables The Christie to claim an extra 25% on your donation from the taxman, without costing you an extra penny!
