Story
This was supposed to be happening last year, but circumstances meant we had to defer to this year........so we got an extra year to train......sort of......#wewillneverlearn
First up, I can’t promise that either of us are going to win. Important to be honest at the outset! Lack of athletic prowess aside, it has been so hard to get those long runs in, thanks to several Beasts from the East - a herd, no less - and various injuries between us.....let’s just say we’ve helped the local Physio industry quite considerably. But! We will be there on the start line and give it the best effort we can. Personally, if I can cross the finish line without (overly)limping or crying, and without having vomit streaks down the front of my vest, I’ll take it as a victory. It has been neither fun nor easy, but we are looking forward to the experience - the good, the bad and the ugly - as well as the post-race pint. Lovely.
About the cause: Henshaws is a local charity supporting those with predominantly visual impairments in order to allow life to be lived to its fullest, and go beyond expectations. Phil has previously trained as a VI guide runner and completed parkruns as well as a couple of triathlons for those who benefit from the charity’s support. The ethos is that wherever they are, everyone has the right to an independent and fulfilling life. The support enables people and their families to build skills and develop confidence.
