Next Tuesday (28th November) is Giving Tuesday, a world-wide day of support for charities. We have a single donor in the U.K. who has said they will match the funds we have raised by midnight on Giving Tuesday, up to £10,000. The donor will match whatever we raise, but our target is £10,000! The key thing is that we can only get there if we get support from many people. We need every single pound we can get. We need your help.

EHE (Epithelioid Haemangioendothelioma) is one of the world’s rarest cancers. It can present in either gender and at any age. It is most prevalent in younger people, and affects women more than men on a ratio of about 5:1. It can present as passive or progressive. In the progressive form EHE is sadly very destructive and hard to treat. The passive form can turn aggressive at any time. We don’t know why this happens, nor can doctors predict it, making passive EHE a very tough condition to live with day to day. So what are we doing about this? In two words, fighting back!

However, we can only defeat EHE if we can undertake research into the cancer; there is no other way. Sadly however, very rare cancer research gets no funding from governments, none from the pharmaceutical companies, and almost zero even from the big cancer charities. So we have to raise the funding ourselves. If we don’t then those diagnosed with EHE will continue to face a grim future.

And we have been doing that brilliantly thanks to a small team of dedicated supporters. Since we set up the charity two years ago we have raised nearly half a million pounds. But we have to keep going. The EHE research we are already funding or will start in the near future will likely cost in the region of £2m to complete. We don’t need to have all that funding at the start as we already have substantial funds in our account. But we will deplete these funds which is why we have to ask people, many of whom have been fabulously generous, to help us again.
