Story
I want to tell you about the amazing man I get to call my dad! Just at the beginning of lockdown he was diagnosed with prostrate cancer and came to live with me and my family throughout lockdown in order to be safe and start treatment. He was treated in Lancaster, Kendal and Preston hospital and endured an intense 5 week radiotherapy treatment plan which was initially very successful. As anyone who is unfortunate enough to have experienced cancer close to home will know, it often doesn’t take very long for the cancer to become wise to the means that keep it at bay, and find a way to continue to grow and mutate. Unfortunately in my dad’s case this is what happened and it had now spread to the surrounding areas including this pelvis and spine.
My dad came up with the crazy idea of me and him doing a sky dive together and although it is my absolute worse nightmare I agreed to do it. After speaking to his consultant yesterday she has advised against him taking part meaning I will be doing it for him rather than with him! I am completely bricking it and if anyone else in the world asked me to do it it would be a massive no, but how can I not. He is the best Dad in the entire world and anyone that is lucky enough to have met him knows he is always the life and soul of the party, and a character you will never ever come across again so knowing he can’t do this I have to do it for him and make him proud, or laugh at me ugly crying 🤣
I’m hoping if you have got this far reading this you will be kind enough to donate. All proceeds will be going directly to The Christie.
If you can share the link with your family and friends even if they don’t actually donate that would be amazing. I think bringing awareness to Prostate Cancer is just as important.
My Dad may have cancer, but cancer has definitely not got my Dad and although he can’t do this jump, which he obviously wanted to do, I have no doubt he will continue to the crazy things he always has. Dad I love you so much and I hope you will be happy with the amount we raise 🤍
