Story
I love swimming, it's my thing. My peace and calm. It washes my emotions clean and grounds me.
I've rediscovered swimming in the last few years after struggling after emergency surgery a few years ago.
After our 2 year delayed wedding happened in September, I wanted a new focus. I got accepted into a charity channel relay swim. 😳
There are four of us swimming. We’re an international crew from India, Netherlands and 2 from UK.
We’ll swim an hour each then rotate, looking after each other and keeping watch on the swimmer in the sea in between swims.
We’re looking at between 12 -16 hours, the longer it takes the more current we face. Our swim is mid June, with a 5 day window and a 2 hour call to get started.
In water about 10 degrees in swimsuit, goggles and swim hat only.
And swim through the busiest stretch of water in the world … facing the perils of jellies, tides and the cold.
It’s intense and demands a lot of time. I’m training 6 days a week. Swimming and other training to support it.
I’ll be swimming swim suit only through winter, to keep my body adjusted to the cold. So expect to see me pre or post swims and maybe a little incoherent or a few screams as I get in 🤣
I'm so excited, a little scared .. let's call it scare-cited! 😂
We’re swimming for the Alexa Trust, a great charity offering much needed Neo natal support. As a want to be older mum I know how important this support is. So I’d love your support to hit my goal of £1,000.
I’ll be sharing updates as we go
Thanks in advance for your support. Any donation big or small or whatever you can is hugely appreciated.
