Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those of you who don't know, my Mum Karen passed away 10 years ago this year and I am doing this Abseil in her memory. My Mum suffered with various degrees of mental health for as far back as I can remember. Sadly due to the progression of these mental health issues she chose to take her own life back in 2007 which in turn completely changed my outlook on life and mental illness.
So on May the 1st 2017 @ 10.30am I will be Abseiling 94 meters down Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth in my Mums memory. 10 years gone but never forgotten.
The reason I chose "Mind" as my charity is because of the great work they do for people with mental health issues and the help and support they give to their families. Mental Illness is still a taboo subject for many people as no one talks about it and there is still some stigma attached to people who suffer with mental health. Telling people my Mum died due to mental health is not as socially acceptable as telling people she died of another cause and with the help of Charities such as Mind, hopefully more people will be aware of these issues and a little less afraid about talking about it, Its time for Change...... You all know me I am happy to talk to anyone about anything!
