Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the half marathon on 27th March for Sunflowers because I had a little insight into the type of support I would have liked. When I had stage 3 malignant melanoma (Skin Cancer) in 2019, (and am doing well now and in the NHS system - so no worries there!). But the one thing you don't get treated for or your family is support for some softer things like counselling or just a good support group of people to talk through the stuff you're experiencing. There are after-effects of treatment, and the NHS doesn't stretch to support services, so for things like a post-op massage for things like Lymphoedema, healthy eating and counselling, Sunflowers picks up the slack and help not just the person in treatment but your loved ones too, as they carry the worry and take a hit from all the stress too, maybe more so.
I rate what The Liverpool Sunflowers charity do, but they need money. They need a bit of support to offer families and patients loads of free support, a network of people who share the stresses, and provide those who need counselling, massage, therapy, yoga, mindfulness, and fitness to get through themselves. They survive on goodwill donations, volunteers and a shoestring budget and support 100s of families a year, so if you can send over a couple of quid, please do; it will go a long way. Find out more and spread the word about https://www.liverpoolsunflowers.com/; maybe they can help someone you know too!
Thanks very much; your support is very much appreciated.
