Nick/Nicky Havey's "2,020km in 2020" Challenge for Alzheimer's

2,020km in 2020 for Alzheimer's · 2 February 2020
Back in 2008, my Nana was showing signs of forgetfulness and was diagnosed with early onset of vascular dementia, a devastating condition which progressively gets worse for both the person who has it and their family, which we could see was taking its toll on Mum who was looking after her.
Ultimately, she moved on to the great "party in the sky" a couple of years later but I still hear about how this disease is affecting many friends and families still.
I was speaking on a Radio Show called Spotlight on the Artist on 31st January about this self-invented challenge where I'm trying to reach a total distance 2,020km (~1,255 miles) in 2020 by a combination of running and hiking. This is an average of ~5.6km (~3.5 miles) per day.
However, it was when we were talking about one of my music releases called "Always Looking Over You", which I made after Nan passed, that really cemented the idea of doing the 2020km challenge for the Alzheimer's Society and so I set up this Just Giving page. Here's a little bit about what the Alzherimer's Society does:
"Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice."
If you have any spare change, feel free to donate or support the challenge effort - £2,020.20 seems like a fitting target. I'll keep you updated over on Strava and my monthly blog on how it's going!
Thank you
Nick (Nicky Havey)
