Story

Tour de Mon

We're cycling 106 miles around the Isle of Anglesey (in a day), for Bowel Cancer UK.  My sister Lucy was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in 2020, at the age of 45.

In just two years (and in chronological order), Lucy has endured... a bowel reconstruction and stoma, a liver reconstruction, six months of chemo, a stoma reversal, a second liver resection, another six months of chemo... and at this point, treatment is ongoing.

Following Lucy's experience, we want to raise awareness of this disease.  Bowel cancer symptoms can be similar to IBS and because of this, can be misdiagnosed. Look out for:  bleeding from your bottom and/or blood in your poo; a persistent and unexplained change in bowel habit; unexplained weight loss; extreme tiredness for no reason and a pain or lump in your tummy

106 miles is an awfully long way, but no distance compared to how far Lucy has come since her diagnosis. Diolch yn fawr iawn am eich cefnogaeth / thank you very much for your support.
