Story
We are obviously in the centenary year of the RAF, and I have been brought up in the RAF family. My mum and dad met when they were stationed at RAF Odiham, my mum being the daughter of an RAF officer. I was born when dad was posted to RAF Gaydon, and we lived for 3 years in Germany when dad was stationed at RAF Rheindahlen.
Whilst we lived in Germany, we visited the Mohne dam and the story of three Dambusters Raid was embedded in my memory. This year is the 75 th anniversary of that raid, and our mission is to retrace the route of the Dambusters from RAF Scampton to the Mohne dam in aid of the RAF benevolent fund. There will be 19 teams of 7 cycling the route. This is approximately 320 miles, and the trip starts on the 16 th May, hopefully to arrive at the Mohne dam on the 20th May, it will be an epic journey!
The funds will go to the RAF benevolent fund, in particular to the flagship care home, Princess Marina House, situated in Rustington, West Sussex. The home offers a short recuperative break to serving or ex- Service members of the RAF family in a comfortable and tranquil environment.
Please help me raise funds to repay the debt we owe our brave servicemen.
