Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and supporting the Charlie Dallas Lancaster Foundation which is a cause particularly close to my heart.
I am running the Hardmoors 55 Miles in March 2022 - along the Cleveland Way - from Guisborough to Helmsley to raise funds and awareness for the foundation and mental health.
When I was first diagnosed with depression 20 odd years ago it was severe and debilitating. I was given some pills and just expected to get on with things, No therapy, no advice on who to contact if I felt desperate (which was often), no-one (professional) to talk to. 20 years later with a long period of severe anxiety and depression (both at the same time) and I experienced pretty much the same medical response. The only difference was that I knew there was more out there so I pushed to get what I needed. I went on a waiting list to go on a course, which was great when I finally got on it... but, the point being, there still seems to be limited resources despite the growing mental health problem, even after all this time. Hopefully the CDL Foundation can go some way to rectifying that. Even a small difference could actually save someone's life.
So I run for Charlie and the family and friends he left behind. But I also run for Jacks friend at school who lost his Mum to suicide, for the lady I used to work with who took her own life, for Ian Gorin who I only met the once, who smiled and laughed with us for a whole day, and a few weeks later lost his fight. My sisters best friend who lost her sister to suicide... And because this list is already too long...
is why I run.
I run for all the moments when I wondered if I would ever get through the other side myself. I run for all the survivors. I run to represent hope.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and I really appreciate all your support.
