Intelligent Sport UK Challenge - Exmoor, 15-19 June 2011

I have joined a Scottish Widows based team which is taking part in the Intelligent Sport UK Challenge in Exmoor from 15-19 June 2011.  ISUKC is the premier team adventure challenge event in the UK, and will see us competing against up to 120 other corporate teams in 8 gruelling events.  The exact nature of the events is kept under wraps, but they typically involve things like running, mountain biking, kayaking, abseiling, orienteering, construction, etc.  Distances for running events can be circa half marathon, and across difficult terrain.  Throw in the fact that events take place at night as well as during the day, and it will be no picnic.  Worst of all is the fact that we are having to stay at Butlins...

Training is progressing reasonably well, with me trying to run most lunchtimes, and cycling to work twice a week.  We also have a three day training event in Exmoor from 6-8 May - hopefully getting a feel for the area and so on.

Our charity is a good one - Children 1st (the working name of the RSSPCC) has 125 years of history working with children and young people in Scotland.
