In December 2015 my son Thomas (then age 7) was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare muscle cancer. A fit, healthy and happy little boy this was devastating for all his family and friends.

Beginning New year eve 2015 Thomas bravely went through nine rounds of chemotherapy, five operations, countless hospital visits, a year wearing a colostomy bag, thirty rounds of proton radiotherapy and the upheaval of having to spend three months receiving treatment in Oklahoma.

In July 2016 we got the the fantastic news that his cancer was in remission. Two and a half years later Thomas is still in remission and doing brilliantly.

This was all made possible by the amazing treatment and care Thomas received at Sheffield Children's Hospital. With this in mind Nick and i have decided to tackle the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September to help the Hospital raise £14m to build a new Accident+Emergency department, rooftop helipad and brand new much needed cancer ward.

At over 6000 metres Kilimanjaro is challenge for anyone but as anybody who knows Nick and I will tell you we are not climbers, campers or indeed walkers so please give generously and help us reach our target.
