Dear all,
As some of you will be aware, our brother-in-law's dear Dad passed away in March after a short but very courageous battle against an asbestos-linked cancer.
To help celebrate Brian's life and what he stood for and enjoyed, a number of his close friends and family (including us) will be doing the Cancer Research UK Shine Walk taking place on September 28th in London. This is a night-time marathon walk through London taking in the sites and sounds and those who have already completed it, say it is an amazing and thoroughly worthwhile experience.
Of course, one of the main aims of the walk, is to not only remember loved ones, but also to raise money for the various charities involved in fighting and helping people live with cancer.
In his final few weeks, Brian was admitted to the Eden Valley Hospice in Carlisle which is a hospice dedicated to the care of terminally ill patients. Outside of the trained medical staff, it is run primarily by volunteers, and Brian himself was a volunteer there acting as a Bereavement Counsellor, but also sitting on the Board of Directors.
The care and compassion shown to Brian whilst he was in the Hospice was truly amazing and helped make a very difficult and emotional time more bearable for Brian and his loved ones. We are hoping to help raise as much money as possible to allow others to benefit from the amazing work done by the Hospice. As such we will be walking in the name of Eden Valley Hospice.
Further information about the Hospice can be found at the links below:
If you are able to sponsor us and help support the Hospice, we would both be very grateful.
Love, hugs, kind regards etc
Nick and Katherine
