Story
We’ve pledged to navigate the 97-mile River Tweed, from source to mouth, by kayak to raise funds for this inspirational charity. Despite having no previous experience, we will paddle (or carry!) our 14 foot kayak the full distance, over six days.
All money raised by supporting our personal ‘Tweed Challenge’ will go towards something vital and unique. It will fund Veterans Aid's emergency interventions – the immediate actions that prevent ex-serviceman or women in crisis ending up as rough sleepers, prey to gangs, drug dealers, robbers and worse. It will help ex-serviceman who have run out of family, friends and sofas to sleep on.
£97 saves one veteran from a first night on the street. Here’s how:
£35 pays for a Veterans Aid Operations Team member to get out to a homeless veteran, transport them to safe location and sort out their immediate needs.
£35 buys a night’s clean, safe emergency accommodation and keeps them off the street.
£17 buys emergency medical and hygiene needs.
£10 buys a hot meal and drink for the first night.
Please watch the Tweed Challenge video at https://veterans-aid.net/tweed/ and together we can make a difference.
Thank you.
