Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

I am cycling from Lostwithiel to Aberdeen, 950 miles by backroads over 17 days (15 days cycling and 2 rest days) starting on 5th June 2019.  To be honest, I am undertaking this cycle ride just for the fun of it.  Father always said that life isn’t a punishment and so I am using my electric bike to make the trip more pleasurable.

I didn’t intend raising any money for charity, but several people have said that I should.  I have therefore chosen Marie Curie because my wife, Jo, who was a nurse, greatly admired the work that Marie Curie nurses did.  I also have several family and friends who have experienced life limiting scares and I want to help people who are having to cope with experiences like those.
