Story
As a group of cyclists, we are cycling 450km, through Snowdonia, over 4 days to raise money to build a new home for New Generation, our long-term street child partner project in Burundi.
Alongside individual and corporate donations, many of our supporters are being sponsored to cycle/run the equivalent of the 10,000km between London and Bujumbura as part of Street Action's #london2buja challenge. We aim to do 5000km between us over the next four days.
Street Action is a UK charities who supports the work of New Generation in Burundi. New Generation emerged from the civil war that swept Burundi between 1993-2005. They continue to respond to the effects of years of civil war amongst the young generations on the streets: engaging them through outreach, back to school and re-integration support and entrepreneurship training for older boys and young women. They work to enable children and young people from the streets to reach their full potential and become leaders of a new Burundi.
In 2018 we raised funds to purchase a plot of land in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, which is now the permanent home of New Generation. Alongside helping developing their programmes, our focus for 2019 is to help them raise the money needed to build the first permanent building on this site. As a team of supporters, we want to cycle/run/walk the 10,000 km between London and Bujumbura, and raise money for New Generation as we do!
