We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Hi all.

About a year ago, a good friend of Katie + I died suddenly because of diabetes-related complications. Katie and some other friends who'd lived with Darren at Durham University subsequently agreed to run the Great North Run to both remember him and also to raise money for Diabetes UK and the great work they do in raising awareness + providing support.

Unfortunately Katie can't join me in the running, but will be there to provide moral and possibly medical support. It will no doubt be an arduous journey - and after we've got to Newcastle, the run should be quite tough too (apparently it's quite hilly).

So all donations welcome to contribute to the target - please give if you can. When donating, please also guess the time I will complete the half-marathon in: a bottle of champagne is available to the person who gets closest to the actual time....

Otherwise, do watch the entertainment unfold live on television on September 16th. I'll be the one with the Team GB sweatbands trying to channel my inner Mo Farah, who I hope has been lying dormant for my entire adult life...

Cheers
