Story
Every day 12 children and young people in the UK are diagnosed with Cancer or Leukaemia.
Friday 19th May 2017 was the day Isabel, who was 3 years old at the time, was diagnosed with Leukaemia.
On 19th May 2017 she was one of the 12.
I'm cycling 980 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats over 9 days to raise funds for Clic Sargent. A charity that supports families and young people through their cancer diagnosis, treatment and after.
After 2 and a bit years, Isabel should finish her treatment in August 2019. A few weeks later I will be doing the Ride Across Britain event so the timing fits well.
Clic Sargent have supported us throughout Isabel's diagnosis and treatment. The evening she was diagnosed Jenny our Clic Nurse came to comfort us. Clic provided accommodation near Bristol Children's Hospital for 3 months. Heather, our Clic Sargent social worker, helped us apply for the correct benefits and grants to help with the cost of 80 miles daily travel during Isabel's 9 months of intensive treatment. Jenny visits each week to take Isabel's blood for blood tests saving Isabel missing half a day of school each week. Jenny has also visited Isabel's school to work with teachers on how to support Isabel during her treatment.
It's been a shit time. But it would have been even worse without the help from family, friends and Clic Sargent.
I'm doing this bike ride to help raise funds for Clic Sargent so they can continue to support children and families through the terrible diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Please donate, support Clic Sargent, and enjoy me suffering the training and ride itself in September!
