As the Director of Care Improvement for the Motor Neurone Disease I see on a daily basis the impact that this devastating disease has on people living with MND and their families and friends.

MND is a rapidly progressing and fatal disease affecting the brain and spinal cord, leaving people locked in to a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe. Every day 6 people are diagnosed, and every day 6 people die from MND, with a third of people passing within a year of diagnosis.

Until we find a cure the MND Association supports approximately 3,500 people through our Care Centre Network. We also provide £1m in care grants annually, loan 1,500 pieces of equipment and respond to 8,000 requests for information and support. We are also committed to funding and promoting research leading to a better understanding of MND and ultimately a cure.
