Whyte and Mackay Cares

People have been coping with extraordinary events during the Covid-19 pandemic. It has impacted individuals and communities around the world, a common experience that is unprecedented in its intensity in our lifetimes.

In many cases this has caused individuals and families untold stress. Loneliness, health concerns and financial uncertainty are but three obvious pressures on people’s mental health.

In many countries mental health has been recognised as being as important as physical health, and potentially an issue of huge proportions as we live through and emerge from the current crisis. In others the case may not be as openly acknowledged, but the same dynamics still apply.

At Whyte and Mackay I and my 500+ colleagues wanted to do something to contribute to supporting the mental health of people around the world, in the communities where our colleagues, business partners and consumers live. Given that we can’t travel in the current climate, we decided to do so virtually. We have therefore committed to Waking, Running, Rowing and Cycling around the world to raise funds for mental health causes. We will do so over 8 weeks from 1 July 2020 with the goal of raising £50,000 for Mental Health charities.

In the UK we are supporting the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH), as that is where our business is headquartered.

I am a true believer in this cause. My wife is a psychologist and I know how important it is to support people’s mental health. I have therefore committed to running at least a half marathon every week for 8 weeks and I am targeting myself to raise £2,500 for SAMH in the process.

If you would be kind enough to sponsor my efforts I am SAMH will be really grateful. You will make Ming a positive contribution to making the post-Covid world a better place!
