Story

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this to honour the memory of a truly extraordinary person, Josh Hillier. On Sunday, June 11th, Josh left this world, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, strength, and an unwavering spirit that will forever inspire us all. Despite the immense challenges he faced following his diagnosis of Leukemia, he refused to surrender. Josh fought with every ounce of his being, defying the odds and triumphing over his illness. For a while, it seemed as though he had won the battle, living cancer-free and showing us all what true courage looked like whilst continuing to battle through Sepsis 3 times, and numerous time spent in Intensive care and induced comas.

Football was Josh's passion, his escape, and his joy. A loyal supporter of Chelsea and England, he found solace and inspiration in the game. But it was his unwavering kindness, his genuine and caring nature, that truly endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Josh was not just a friend; he had the ability to touch the lives of everyone he met. Josh's infectious spirit, kind heart, and genuine warmth drew people to him. He was a friend to all, radiating compassion and selflessness in every interaction. His infectious laughter, his genuine interest in others, and his boundless empathy left an permanent mark on our hearts.

In October inspired by Josh's spirit, I made a promise to him and myself. I pledged to run a Marathon and an Ultra Marathon, a testament to the strength and determination he had shown throughout his difficult journey. And now, having run the marathon and as I prepare to embark on the Ultra Marathon this weekend, I carry Josh's memory with me every step of the way. Life is often cruel with its timing, and I’m so sad he won’t get to see me finish what we had set out to achieve together.

We set out to raise funds for the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital, who cared for Josh with dedication and compassion. It was a cause close to his heart, and he deeply appreciated the effort I put into supporting the charity. He was profoundly grateful for this gesture, as it allowed us to give back, to show our appreciation for the unwavering support he received. Josh knew he was loved and supported by an incredible community, and he was confident that we would reach our goal knowing that every penny raised would make a difference.
Now, as I approach the weekend, about to honour his memory by surpassing the goal he envisioned. I kindly ask for your support, for your generous contributions, to help us reach and surpass that £5,000 mark that meant so much to him.

Josh's legacy will forever serve as a reminder that within us all lies the power to overcome, to rise above, and to find strength in the face of adversity.

If donating, please include Gift Aid, it is at no extra cost to you, but allows the charity to claim 25p of tax for every £1 of your donation.

Thanks You So Much.
