Story
In 1981 Dad ran the first ever London Marathon, so last year I decided to run the 40th London Marathon in his honour and to raise some money for a charity that had become extremely important to us.
In 2020 Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which was a devastating blow to him and his family, but despite what 2020 had planned for the whole world, Dad fought it, had some successful treatment by some incredible doctors and nurses, and all the dedicated team at Eastbourne Hospital, and has been given some fantastic results.
We have both run several marathons over the years, but this year in October, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of that first race, we are going to be going to the start line together and we are walking the London Marathon 2021, to raise vital funds for Macmillan, who were very helpful to dad during those dark months of 2020.
We are aiming to come in at under 6 hours 30 minutes, but that will depend on the conditions on the day. Training is well underway, and we’re really looking forward to this challenge together.
We would like to raise £6000, so every penny really does help.
Best,
Nick and Michael xx
