Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may know our son Bud suffers with CFS/M.E. (which is chronic fatigue syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) if you're unfamiliar with the condition here’s a link: https://www.actionforme.org.uk/what-is-me/introduction/. He spent over three years seeing doctors, paediatricians and psychologists who “couldn’t find anything wrong with him” so deemed him to be “well” which he clearly wasn’t. He, school, the medical profession and we continued to push for him to continue trying to do what he couldn't. This not only made him physically worse, it also started to affect his will to live. His increasing symptoms of anxiety and depression were also misdiagnosed as potentially the source of his illness.
After much searching Sharon, Bud's Mum and my partner, contacted Action for M.E. Their advice, help, support, warmth and kindness have been the light at the end of a very long and very dark tunnel. Following their advice we requested a referral to UCHL who have a unit specialising in, among other things, children with chronic fatigue/M.E. They were able to diagnose his condition and we now have every reason to believe that we have a path to recovery and althogh Bud's physical condition remains very poor he is being supported and is regaining the bright and positive outlook that we had been watching slowly fade in him.
As well as providing help, advice and support for suffers and their families, Action for M.E. encourages research and promotes public understanding so that sufferers’ conditions may be better understood by the wider community.
It means a lot to me to be able to give them something back. Action for M.E. have been a lifeline for us, and your donation will help them continue this great work.
