I have just turned 70, and I have set myself a challenge - to beat the time in a 10k race that I set in the only other 10k race I ran in when I was 48. It was also the last time I ran! The time to beat is 59 minutes 50 seconds, which is the time an advanced runner of my age should take.

I have entered the Rutland 10k race, which takes place on 24th June. Why not come along and cheer me on?

I have chosen EMICS, firstly because it was founded by a local retired doctor, and secondly because it involves volunteer doctors in the East Midlands. Imagine Air Ambulance with cars instead of helicopters. Although the doctors provide their services for free in their own cars, all the equipment and medical supplies have to be paid for.  Required equipment for one volunteer doctor costs £20,000.
