Story
Thank you one and all for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was lucky enough to be walking with a fantastic group of people on Saturday 21st May as we conquered the 24 mile Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise funds for St Teresa's Hospice in Darlington. It has to be said I have been a little tardy with my fundraising so here we go...retrospectively one could say!
After being herded by Lyn we all headed out from Horton in Ribblesdale just after 8.15 am on the Saturday in the capable hands of our superb guide, Dave. Pen-y-ghent (spell check doesn't like this one!) was the first mountain on the radar to climb at 694 metres swiftly followed by Whernside (736 metres) then Ingleborough at 723 metres. The weather very kindly behaved itself during the day save for a little drizzle at the 18 mile mark which was quite welcomed. Blister free I managed to complete the challenge within the 12 hour time limit as I approached the bar at The Crown for a delicious pint of Theakston's at 7.45 p.m.!
The camaraderie and support for one another within the group was just great although several of my fellow walkers could not quite share/understand/appreciate my love of pickled eggs and the accompanying bottle of Tabasco sauce!! I think they were just jealous......
