Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
After having many friends and/ or their families affected by cancer over the last few years I was looking for inspiration to do something to raise money to help others suffering from this terrible disease.
Back in June I was on my way to visit Rose Carberry when I got the awful news her friend Ali Hall had passed away from breast cancer at the young age of 39. Rose asked me to run with her in Ali's memory, far further than I'd ever run. I said yes even though I doubted I could do it.
With a lot of effort I made the 8 mile round trip up to Barbury Castle ! It changed my life ! Having realised I could run long distances, over the summer my running has got better, I've lost weight and as a result I have the chance to get rid of my CPAP breathing machine for my sleep apnea which I was told only one year ago was with me for life.
So, having never met this amazing young lady, only meeting her friends and family at her funeral, she has touched my life for the positive and I want to repay her.
It seems so apt to be running these half marathon's in her name to raise money for this great cause, she has touched my life and given me a chance I never thought I'd have. Now its my turn to try to repay her by helping all the people out there with this disease that I can.
