Story
The two man dream team of Marston and Crook will drive -
2,000 miles non stop round Britain in my 1972 Triumph TR6 in just over 48 hours, taking turns to drive, sleeping in the car (to the best of our ability - it gets a lot easier later in the event) and stopping only at check points, and for essentials such as fuel and food. All costs are covered by the drivers and Club Triumph, all money raised goes to charity.
We start at Knebworth at 6pm on Friday, travel up the East coast of England, across the border at Carter Bar in to Scotland and on up to John O' Groats for Saturday breakfast. Then down the single track roads via Altnaharra back to Inverness where we head west along Loch Ness to Fort William, pass over Glen Coe and down to Stirling.
After proper Scottish meat pies in Stirling the route takes us across to the west side of the British Isles, past Gretna Green, Beattock summit and the border, and on down past the Lake District, Manchester, and past Chirk and Wrexham in to Wales. Then on through North, Mid and South Wales in the depth of night to cross the old Severn Bridge at Monmouth and head South Westwards.
A long slog in the early hours across Bodmin Moor and down to Lands End sees Sunday morning and our second breakfast. Then up to Bude, across to Dartmoor, and along the south coast (cursing the Sunday drivers who swarm round this part of the route) past Lyme Regis before turning left at Dorchester, up over the Salisbury Plain and past Oxford to wend our way back round London to finish at Knebworth by 7-30pm Sunday.
Many thanks and best wishes - Nick and James
