Story
Hello Friends (& friends of friends)
As you might already be aware, Terry (Oates), Joe (Scullion), myself and other friends (yet to be confirmed, corralled and coerced!) will, on Sunday 12 September, be participating in St Joseph’s Hospice annual ‘Great East End Walk’ ten-mile charity event in memory of Lorraine Oates, Joe’s mother and Margaret Quinn (the late mother of our dearly-loved mate Kathy Smith).
With this in mind, we were hoping you might be kind and generous enough to donate a sum to this most deserving cause in addition to assisting us ‘drum up’ support by rattling the proverbial charity box on our collective behalf?
For those unfamiliar with the hospice, St Joseph's confers life's most valuable commodities - dignity, comfort, care and compassion - to those in times of greatest need.
Friends might recall that, last year, thanks to your generosity, we collectively donated a total exceeding £3,000 (or £4K after 'Gift Aid') to St Joseph’s Hospice (Hackney) – a staggering sum, way in excess of even our most optimistic expectations!
With thanks, all, in anticipation of your on-going support. Appreciated!
St Joseph’s Hospice opened in Hackney in 1905, and since then has been caring for and supporting people affected by serious illness in eight London boroughs. We work to improve the quality of life of more than 2,100 patients with life-limiting conditions each year, helping them live life to the full, to the very last. We have to raise £19,000 each day to keep our vital services running and available to the 2.2 million people in our diverse community, so every penny raised for our hospice is really important, and very much appreciated.
