Story
I am riding 54 miles from London to Brighton to help raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
I am a cancer patient and was first diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in 2017 before I was even 40 years old. I am currently having chemotherapy treatment for stage 4 Bowel Cancer which involves an endless stream of fortnightly chemo cycles - this is extremely hard going for me and everyone around me. So far this year I have tackled 15 cycles of chemotherapy (and counting) not to mention 4 previous cycles in 2017.
Somehow I am still here and amazingly I have managed to keep a small degree of fitness. So I am really pleased to be able to do this ride and to raise money for a charity that is doing everything that it can to help people with my disease.
I wish I could control the individual cells in my body but I can’t so I have to rely on Doctors and medical science to keep me going. There have been some recent breakthroughs with cancer treatment but sadly this doesn’t seem to apply to Bowel Cancer where most of the treatment I have received has been around for 10 years or more.
Hopefully my situation will inspire you to donate some money to this worthy cause. At the same time I will have a great time riding my bike for the day.
