Story
I am running three half marathons this year for causes that are perhaps not quite as fashionable as they should be. After running for Mind, I am racing for the Alzheimer's Society on 20 May.
Why finding treatments for dementia and relief for sufferers is not the most fashionable cause in the country is beyond me. Leave aside, if you can, the 850,000 people who are already suffering, forget the pressure on the families caring for them, surely the fear of losing your memory is more frightening than virtually every type of physical disability. Mere self-interest ought to encourage people to help.
Anyway, that's enough ranting. If you could spare anything, the Alzheimer's Society would be very grateful. Having run one half marathon, I can pretty much guarantee that I won't embarrass everyone by keeling over.
All the best,
Nick
The Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
