Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As some of you may already know my sister Emma swam for TeamGB at the Paralympics back in the 2008 games in Beijing. ParalympicsGB are a fantastic organisation who offer lots of help and support to British athletes throughout their training and at competitions.

I'm running the Virgin London Marathon to raise money for the charity helping ParalympicsGB continue to provide their first class support to the hard working British athletes on their way to London 2012!!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thanks a lot!

Nick

29/01/12: I've just completed my second 10 mile run of my marathon training program and ran it in 1 hour 15 minutes, my fastest time ever for that distance. My pace was about 7.5 mins/mile which is a bit quicker than i'm intending to go for the marathon but it's good to know i can run at a faster pace!

11/02/12: Training is going very well, the knee deep snow and ice made my long runs a bit tricky last weekend!! I have just completed a 13 mile run this morning in 1 hour and 45 minutes, so i am on track for completing the marathon in sub 4 hours. I'll keep you posted with my training progress.

19/02/12: 14 miles under my belt in 1 hour and 55 mins! Training is still going well and to plan.

29/02/12: Just £9 off raising £300, thanks very much to all the people who have kindly donated so far. I have a 16 mile run planned for this weekend, my target is to do it under 2 hours 15, i'll let you know how i do!!

03/03/12: This morning i ran 16 miles. Easily my toughest run to date and it was noticeably warmer! I averaged just over 8 minute miles and went 2 hours 10 minutes, i'm still on for a sub 4 hour marathon time!

14/03/12: Training is getting tough. I saw the physio on Monday and it turns out i have posterior tibial tendonitis. I'm to cut back on the week day runs but keep up the long weekend one. I think this marathon is now more about survival than going for a good time!

17/03/12: I had an 18 mile run today and it's fair to say it was tough! I didn't go for a time today, it was about running a sensible pace of 8:30 - 9 min miles. I ran 2 hours and 36 mins. I felt the hills, fortunately the London Marathon is a bit flatter!

29/03/12: 20 miles coming up this weekend. The 18 mile run was tough....i think less hills this time...

31/03/12: How do people run marathons!!? I now have 20 miles under my belt and it was exhausting! These last 6 miles are going to be to tough. I ran 20 miles in 2 hours and 51 minutes. I went through the 1st 10 miles in 1hr 23 mins then 1 hr 28 mins for the back 10. I'm pretty happy with it and didn't drop too much. I'm thoroughly looking forward to the taper now!!!

09/04/12: I only had a casual 13 miles to run this Easter weekend...it felt surprisingly difficult and i ran it in 1 hr 51 mins. I think the 20 miler from the weekend before and my over indulgence over the long weekend were largely responsible!

£500 TARGET SMASHED AND OBLITERATED!! A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE DONATED!!!!
