Story
After completing my first London Marathon last year, the obvious next step was the UK Ironman! Thank you to all who have spurred me on over the last six months, listened to me bang on about the training and mostly telling me I’m nuts… The event is a 3.8km swim, a 180.2km cycle and ends with a marathon. The average time to complete is around 13 hours given that it is a super hilly course…
I am raising money for RefugEase, a UK based registered charity which is providing incredible support for Ukraine evacuees. The team are working in the heart of the conflict zone in the east of Ukraine and conducting daily evacuations, mainly of the elderly and immobile. They're mostly being taken to local train stations where there are special cars available for those with mobility issues. The trains are taking them west, to safer cities in Ukraine or further - into Europe.
£30 will cover the cost of petrol to run their van for a day. £100 pays for a volunteer driver to stay somewhere safe and comfortable for a week, allowing them to refuel after a gruelling day. The donations are also going towards food parcels, hygiene packs, medical supplies and sleeping bags for both refugees and their pets.
Thank you to you all and I hope to report back soon that I've smashed it!
