Story
So, why am I hoping for a donation for a 5K when I
used to run 10Ks every month for fun (& a free t-shirt)?
You may be aware that this time last year I was gradually
struggling more and more with my walking. Weak and wobbly legs meant I had to focus on every step, stairs were hard work, I couldn’t travel at speed or with bounce and I had to give every step I made my full attention to avoid falling flat on my face (which also did happen, such an attention seeker!).
In June, I was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple
Sclerosis (RRMS). I am very fortunate to be in remission; for now the majority of my symptoms have gone, I am on medication to help prevent further relapses and I’ve been building up my core strength with a combination of targeted Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates exercises.
Cardio exercise however still fills me with fear. I am extremely nervous about running, but I know I need to challenge myself and am lucky to be able to try. Therefore, I’m aiming to Beat Beethoven (which means
completing a 5k on 13th March before the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra
finishes playing Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony).
At least I’ve given myself plenty of time to train though, oh wait…
Whilst I’m pretty sure last year I had way over my fair
share of support from people, I’d be so grateful for any donation you may be able to spare. This will help keep me going as I run, but most importantly it will support the incredible work Sport Relief funds and help people facing all kinds of difficulties in their lives.
For me personally, even being beaten by Beethoven, but completing the run will be a huge achievement!
Thank you
