Story
Sharon McKinlay and Nicola Bradley (Jones) are taking part (or at least attempting) in The Kiltwalk in memory of Nicola's nephew Aidan Moir, who passed aways at just 10 years old at Robin House one of only 2 children's hospices in Glasgow.
As many of you know last year we lost our blue eyed boy on 3rd August 2012 after watching him fight battens disease for 5 years.
Aidan was born on 17/5/02 and was a typical cheeky little boy. However, when he was 5 years old he was diagnosed with the terminal illness Late Infantile Battens Disease. Aidan slowing lost his ability to walk, speak, see and eat - he also needed 24 hour oxygen. Aidan fought this illness hard and the family were told on no less than 6 occassions to expect the worst, however, Aidan fought on surprising doctors and professionals - earning him the nickname Superman.
The Kiltwalk work with a few different Children's Charities, however, the main one we are fundraising for is Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). Anyone who know's Nicola will know how highly she regards this charity for the support they gave to her sister and whole family throughout Aidan's illness and even the support they still given to the family especially Aidan's parents, brother who is 14 and sister who is 5.
Robin House is operated mostly by volunteers and have helped the family from when he was diagnosed, assisted with funeral arrangement and support even now. Helpful and understanding staff are always only a phone call away. Without their support the family would have been lost.
