Story

Update...due to Covid 19.....I will be running the Virtual London Marathon on October 4th 2020 and also the London Marathon October 2021....double the challenge and double the training....double the fun haha?!!

On October 4th 2020 I will be joined in Derbados (Derby city) to run a marathon with my Love2Jog crew and some of our local Special Olympics athletes :)

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.........

It is with both fear and excitement that I'll be running the London marathon in April 2020 (see update above due to Covid 19)...my first ever marathon!!! I applied to run for Special Olympics GB and am proud to say I was successful in gaining their one charity running spot.

I'm so passionate about helping our athletes with intellectual/learning disabilities to thrive in life through sport. Special Olympics is a life changing organisation that I'm very proud to be involved with. I'm so honoured to run the London marathon for our athletes and raise the much needed funds to ensure that we can continue to grow and allow more people with learning disabilities to access meaningful sports opportunities.

Please please dig deep to donate what you can to such a fantastic organisation and to help motivate me through this big training schedule and challenge.

And this is going to be a big challenge for me....this time last year I joined a local jogging group Love2Jog as I wanted to enjoy running.  I'd done the odd parkrun but I hated being in my own head and breathing like darth vadar so I needed to do something to learn to enjoy it. Love2Jog has helped me grow in confidence and definitely enjoy running. In 2019, I did my first ever 10k and Half Marathon....and I enjoyed them (still can't believe it). So here we are 2020 and I'm throwing myself into running my first marathon :) let the training begin!!

For anyone who donates £26.20 ( a £ for every mile completed) I will have your name added to my running vest (thanks for the inspiration Vicci Wells)

Thanks a million

Niamh
