Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This charity is such an amazing support network for mummies and daddies of angel babies.

I was just 19 years old when I give birth to my little angel baby Alanna back in Dec 2009. I carried her full term and had to go in for a C-section due to the fact she most likely wouldn't have survived a natural birth.

When I was 20 weeks pregnant with Alanna I found out that she had a chromosomal abnormality. At the time nobody could tell us what was wrong. All we knew was that she was unlikely to survive.

We later found out after her death that she had a condition called "Meckel Gruber syndrome". This is a rare, lethal, ciliopathic genetic disorder.

Alanna lived for 1 hour and 20 minutes and the short precious time that I got to spend with her changed my life forever.

Personally I didn't avail of Sands but I always knew the support was and is there if I ever need it. Losing a baby and grief is a life long process and sometimes it creeps up on you when you least expect it. It comforts me to know I have somewhere to turn if I needed to talk to someone.

Fast forward 12 years now and I have 4 more amazing happy crazy children. I have learnt the hard way to never take anything for granted and we make the most of every moment together.

Please donate any amount to such a worthy cause ❤️
