Story
In March 2022 I lost not only my best friend but my Grandad John, a man who no words would come close to describe his heart, wisdom and love.
My Grandad had lived with Type 2 diabetes for over 25 years, and was on his very own mission to reverse his diagnosis up until his passing at age 84. For me losing my grandad has been extremely difficult, adjusting to a world without the figure that has always been so prominent In my life & journey, but also holding so much gratitude and gratefulness that I was so lucky to have called him mine and had such an amazing grandad by my side for so long.
Running the 2024 London Marathon is never something I thought I would be able to accomplish. A year ago I couldn’t even run the length of a song so it is an honour to run the London Marathon in support of a charity that is held close to home and I know he would be proud of.
Running has become a new passion for myself, not only for the physical aspect but mentally throughout the process of grieving a loved one, and has been a release that I am not sure where I would be without. Running has not only become a significant part of my life but has also instilled in me a sense of discipline, perseverance, and a drive to constantly challenge limits.
To have been given the opportunity to run the London Marathon for Diabetes UK so last minute has come as a shock, but a massive privilege to give thanks and support to an amazing charity and cause.
Love,
