The reason Mark and I are doing this crazy, scary and very muddy, 5k obstacle race of torture, is to raise much needed cash for The Friends of St Luke's, who, in a nutshell, saved my Dads life.

Dad was first diagnosed with throat cancer 4 years ago. After a year of treatment in a general hospital, Dad was referred to St Luke’s hospital in Dublin, Ireland, where he began a 5 week intensive radiotherapy treatment. The care Dad received at St Luke's was excellent, he was also offered a “home from home" self-contained apartment on the hospital grounds as well as a free daily bus collection/drop service. Fortunately Dad was in a position to make his own way to St Luke's every day. However, there are families not as fortunate and so to have these facilities and services available is invaluable. 

Thankfully Dads treatment was completely successful and today he sees a consultant every 3 months to ensure he is still tip top. The Friends of St Luke's ensure that the facilities, equipment and system for cancer sufferers like my Dad is second to none.

So please please dig deep for us and donate as much as you can to help The Friends of St Luke's continue their amazing work in raising funds for the comfort, cure and care of patients at the St Luke's Radiation Oncology Network Dublin.
