Story
On 16th May 2020, Chris and James New will each be taking 100,000 steps to raise money for the NHS. During this ordeal we will be running ‘all around the world’ (figuratively speaking...) without even leaving the house. We will be showing the entire event live, this live feed will be provided by the highly regarded twitch.tv streaming website (copy link below).

Us 2 ‘New’ cousins are both key workers at NatWest and want to do our bit to help those most at risk on the frontline. We will be taking on the whole of this event from inside our shared house – just short of 2 marathons each we’re told. Yes, we both still don’t understand the term – ‘know your limit’...
We will officially begin our step challenge live at 9am on Saturday 16th May. After this we will have 24 hours to take 100,000 steps each! Everyone is invited to watch and join in the fun, as well as donate at any stage!!
We will be ‘visiting’ different countries in our own special way, every hour of the day. Every country will have it’s own theme and comical hurdles for us to overcome along the way.
In order to increase our suffering and your amusement, we will also be attempting our task in fancy dress (until sweat takes over...) and will be running live Mario vs Luigi face offs at the turn of each hour! To watch us struggle through this challenge live, simply visit twitch.tv/thenewcousins at any point from 8.45am Saturday 16th May. The live stream is entirely free and accessible to everyone for the duration of the event.
What are we doing it for?
This cause is aimed towards supporting NHS staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients.
Staff who work for the NHS have been through a horrendous time recently as a result of the coronavirus. At the time of writing, there have been over 215,000 confirmed cases of the disease and over 31,000 have died in the UK alone.
The unprecedented numbers of people requiring medical assistance has led to NHS staff having to work over and above their normal duties, under extreme pressure and in a very frightening situation for themselves and their families. The people on the frontline have fought to save the lives of thousands, who otherwise would not have a fighting chance. In some cases they have lost their own lives doing so.
Now it is our turn to make sure we look after them. With your help, we aim to raise money to give something back to these amazing people. We want to support frontline NHS staff with wellbeing packs, accommodation, travel, parking and volunteer expenses; anything that we can to make their lives that little bit easier and to acknowledge their efforts and their personal sacrifices at this difficult time.
Thank you for visiting our page and taking the time to read it. Please be generous and remember that every penny collected will contribute to ‘US’ making a difference for ‘THEM’.
We are also encouraging everyone to get involved with #StepSelfies. A StepSelfie is any picture linked to steps, the more original the better; animals, running, staircases - we want to see them all! Get stepping and be sure to tag us in your pictures!
