Story
Plan works with communities across the world to keep girls out of forced marriage and in school. Educating girls is the right, fair and smart thing to do and will help end poverty for generations to come.
On 27th March 2015 partner schools, Richardson Dees, West Denton and St Cuthbert's will join Newcastle High School for Girls and together take on the challenge of the World Wide Walk.
Plan UK's aim is for pupils at schools across the UK to collectively walk the circumference of the world – a distance of 40,075km!
To achieve this incredible feat, each pupil will walk 10km and pledge to raise £35 to help change the lives of the most vulnerable girls.
£35 could help support a girl's education in Uganda by providing essential school items – including uniform, textbooks and pencils.
Every day, girls living in the poorest communities walk an average of 10km to collect water. This task can keep them out of school and put them at risk of harassment, or worse.
By walking the world together, we can help support girls to stay in school, claim their rights and have their voices heard.
Please join us in supporting millions of girls to be all that they can be, by donating today.
You can also donate by texting NHSG50 to 70070 plus an amount of £3, £5 or £10.
