Story
As most of our NGUP members are aware, there is a group of us that have committed to complete the ‘snowdon 6 challenge’ in order to raise funds and awareness for bowel cancer uk.
The group will be made up friends and family of Daz and members from NGUP. Daz, who unfortunately lost his fight to bowel cancer at the age of just 40, is the main reason we are raising funds and awareness in this way as he and his brother Chris are close friends of mine.
Bowel cancer uk is the second biggest cancer killer. Daz and Chris’s family suffer from a disease called Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), this is an inherited disorder characterised by cancer of the large intestine and rectum. People with the classic type of FAP may begin to develop multiple growths in the colon, as early as their teenage years.
Darren’s passing has meant leaving behind his fiancée and daughter aged 11. Just before he passed away, we found out his daughter also carries the gene. As family and friends, we would like to raise awareness and funds towards research into FAP, through the charity Bowel Cancer UK, so their family, along with other families, who are also suffering from the disease, have the best chance of survival in the future.
The snowdon 6 challenge consists of 3 times up and 3 times down different paths of Snowdon Mountain within a 24 hour period. We aim to complete this on Saturday 22nd July 2023 and would love if you would support us on the journey.
Thank you massively in advance for any donations you are able to offer.
