Story
10-20 million dogs and 4 million cats are slaughtered across China every year for the meat trade. This industry is often criticised for it's inhumane treatment of animals.
The Yulin 'Festival' of dog meat is set to go ahead on the 21st of June 2020. International media outlets have repeatedly reported widespread torturing and boiling alive of animals to 'improve the taste'.
Humane Society International is a leading force for animal protection. Among numerous other campaigns to protect animals from the fur trade, product testing and suffering on farms (to name a few) HSI are working on the frontline in China to save, care for and find loving homes for dogs used in Yulin.
Donations are desperately needed at this time to care for any animals that can be rescued and to spread global awareness to apply pressure for change in the future.
On the 20th of June both Jamie and myself will be running a 33 mile ultra-marathon route we have created (in the shape of a dog) in the New Forest. It will be my first ultra-marathon and Jamie's first marathon and ultra in one! It will be tough, but nothing compared to the suffering of the animals we are doing this for.
Any donation, no matter how small, will be gratefully received.
