Story
5 years ago this year, we suddenly lost Jason to undiagnosed Long QT Syndrome with the potential of Cardiomyopathy, he was 31. After multiple tests and genetic testing Hayley, Rebecca, Craig (Jay's Siblings) and mum Glenda, were diagnosed with Long Qt Syndrome, which Mum and Craig are now medicated for.
Jay was the most kind hearted, funny, caring person who really did live life to the full with bags of energy to go with it! Whilst we miss Jay more than we could ever put into words, we are determined to do this run together to try and raise money & awareness in his name to help prevent others having to lose someone they love, and to test those who could potentially have the double whammy of losing a loved one and having to live with a life threatening condition.
The likeliness of all 4 siblings and Mum having the same condition seemed almost impossible, yet here were are!
This highlights the importance that if a sudden death happens within a family that the family members should be checked to prevent any extra losses happening on top of that! We have had the support from British Heart Foundation nurses to make these tests possible for us.
On top of being a close family we have the incredible support network from brilliant friends and partners; Katie and Jack will be running the 10k with us to help raise money in Jay's memory and James will be braving the half marathon!
We would be so grateful for any donations no matter how big or small to help go towards such an incredible charity who carryout literally life changing research.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
